It’s hard not to notice that I still
have a debt to this blog, I haven’t finished last year story on the fest and
then here we are again with the third edition of 100PM, which will be my final
year.
The festival started from Friday 20th
to 29th October, I’m sure Shinbul would call it a 10 days of Hell
from Sammy.
I’ve been dealing with Elyta’s
miscommunications way back before the festival started, I have no idea what to
do with the website and she expect me to give her my leisure time list, which
was none, and she did all the shit for the website and Sammy kept telling me to
liaise with her, it’s a completely dreadful.
So the whole story would be about the
day by day activity during the fest and the reason why im out for good.
Day 1.
The opening
It was held in Goethe House in
Gondangdia, I didn’t ask for an annual leave full day of the fest, my rational
sense told me to balance my personal life with this so called volunteerism in
human rights thingy through art shit. I took my annual leave starting on Monday.
I was late, as usual, had to do some
work and arrived magrib, met with El and Julie from twitter land for the first
time, they were cool, hope they had a great time watching the opening film.
Rain went on stage to open the fest, and
called us one by one as part of the committees.
And that was it, I didn’t watch the
opening, had a meeting afterward on what to do with the next day fest. I saw my
name on the catalogue, for years I wanted this but sadly I just lost interest
to this whole organization.
You can actually feel it that this year
is such a mess, Elyta wrote down the MOM and me catching my breath as they
briefly mentioning names for the speaker.
I don’t know how to describe it, but I
think it’s funny that we are trying to make a fest about not labelling human
but the fest itself it’s just full of inner circle and shit.
The food is great, had a great time
munching on the nasi kepal with various flavour; cakalang, nasi uduk with ayam,
missed the ikan teri asin though.
Day 2.
The retreat
Me, had the balls to lie and said, you
know what, I’m not helping you guys today and tomorrow,
I lied about that there is this bule guy
from HO will be coming to Jakarta.
Which in fact, I was planting mangrove
and cleaning muara karang area.
It was hell of place, it is, and it’s
very hot, like at the tip of the map of bekasi, we’re like 3 kilos from the coastline.
Imagine miles and miles of muddy swamp area.
This is a good opportunity to ask for a
new volunteer tshirt since my tiny hard to breathe t-shirt was missing, ask
Yudi the new CSR guy if he had a spare, and the closest size it Peter’s size,
yes people, I am that big, it’s just sad, that I grew to a whole new size, it’s
my current record for being the seize of a pig – a great white to be exact;
google that up!
I arrive on time in the office riding a
gojek, and went to destination by buss that was rented by the office. 5 buses and
everyone has the audacity to switch bussed, and I was on the third bus, in
front of Luca, whom to be said the cutest guy in the whole building, not my
type but true, he’s kinda cute.
He just sat there in silence without any
piece of ear protection while Mbak Ai torture us with shitty music along the
way.
It was a one and a half drive through
free-way, and stumble with a bunch of construction workers on the way, rough
and kinky but couldn’t get a snap.
We were gathered in a balai desa of some
sort to listen some speech as usual, CSR won an award, clap clap, the good
thing is KarinZ acknowledge that this award would not happened without the
whole crowd, well its true.
Anyway, long story short, we pick up
some trash afterwards, while some bitches kept telling this “pick up your ex-s”
as trash joke, that joke is so yesterday.
Then plant some mangrove babies, I kinda
like the feeling of jumping to a mud, my toe slowly moving frontward to feel if
there is a sharp object ahead. I’m a natural in this, remembering that in front
of my house used to be a muddy pond where I was ngobak pretty often,
The water was up to my chest, and that
distinct smell of mud fills my nostril, it’s a hommy feeling, I would be butt
naked if there is no one there for sure, we planted 3K that day, some didn’t go
down, but it felt really easy and we just did it at ease, it was a fun day.
Had lunch afterward and at 13:00 heading
back to Jakarta.
While heading back to Jakarta, the team
from 100PM kept calling me asking for the speaker attendee, like I told you
that Sat and Sun I won’t be helping – which I found later on maul or Rain
didn’t inform the group, this group is just lack of communication, Lingkan ask
for the excel – huh you only call me when you need something, this whole crowd
is, like Devan and Shin call it, toxic. I kept thinking myself why I stayed
here for years.
Day 3.
Sleep.
It was a fun day,
Woke up like really late, my parents
were back in god knows where, I had a really good sleep.
I contacted some of the speaker for
today and tomorrow, and kept asking who will fill the spot for the blanks in my
excel but no one responded in the group, pff what a bunch of asshole and those
asshole has the nerve to ask me if I will come to the meeting in Putri’s new
kost, it’s a kost so stop calling it her house or her place. Sorry about the
cancelled wedding on May but it’s just too many fake things, seriously it needs
to stop.
Day 4.
Sanctuary - STFT
Venue Coordinator leading discussion
So a lot of things change this year, for
years we were told that it takes a programmer that will lead a discussion,
Udit, Elyta, and I are among the non-programmers that will have a VC
responsibilities which include leading a discussion.
Arrived at noon, saw Ali and Gilang from
IFI setting up the system in STFT (STT), and boy oh boy did I complained. I
forgot what I complained for but I remember Gilang tap me on the shoulder
telling me to relax, Ali was there, a really big help.
No one’s telling me to bring a laptop to
play the film, and my dell xps has no port to plug-in screening cable and such,
so I borrowed the volunteer’s laptop, her name was Wingka, she studied veterinarian,
keeping her numbers might come in handy sometimes.
Had a crazy fun with her, I tried my
first Richie’s Chicken for the first time. It was spicy and now I know the
reason why the side is milk with soda, haha it’s the kind of chicken that burns
your butthole next morning.
The movie is sanctuary, about a group of
people with Down syndrome.
You might wanna read it on imdb, it’s a
simple movie about love but the complexity of it struck me, it’s about a man
with Down syndrome who fall in love with a girl who had epilepsy.
We had an amazing speaker from
leavemark, Winda which is one of Rain’s friend.
And there are two things that awes me
about this film,
1. The things that set a differ on western movies to Indonesian movies
are the dramas, we love the dramas, the way the sounds will kick in when the
actors are shocked, and that intense drumming when the actor chase or being
chased, well you wouldn’t see it in this movie, it’s just flowing like water
without any exaggeration,
2. Down syndrome or any other disabilities, we often forget that these
people are people, the actor with disabilities refused to be kissed, not just
because she was impaired but she has dignity and has every right to say no, and
hence this movie refers to be a love movie, it reminds us that these people
also have needs, the needs to love and to be loved, and to have sex as well
Day 5.
Going West - STFT
After yesterday’s low on volunteer, just
me and Wingka, so today Shin kindly reinforce me with another two, Bayu and
Vera.
Got to be honest here, these are not the
type of crowd that I would usually hang out at first glance but they are super
cool when you get to know them, I promise them we could eat the big meatball in
front of UBK opposite to Cikini station and had an ice durian soup.
This movie reminds me of that French – Arab
movie about the old man who wanted to go on a hajj pilgrim and ask his son to
accompany him, same same but not the same, it’s about a cross dresser father
and the son who honoured their deceased wife/mother who has the knack on
quilting, a few dispute along the way between the two and had some dramas, but
they won 3rd prize.
The thing that I learned from this movie
that even in Norway; cross dresser still an odd thing, hmm imagine that.
I
manage to ask pak Steven to be the speaker for today’s discussion, had a big discussion
on their agenda towards lgbt program that will be run in STT. All hats for you
pak Steve.
I took the gangs of today to grab some
bowl of bakso and ice durian soup, and when I went there … drum please … its
all empty. Asked a passerby and told us that we need to walk further. Guess
what, none of them knows where the street vendor move to, so we stuck on the
available menus in the Cikini flower market, had a nasi uduk, not so bad, and
would recommend it.
Day 6S
F for Female, last day on STFT/STT
Bayu still stuck with me for one more
day, and two other new volunteer, no fancy dinner this time, it was way late so
I gave them OVO 25K instead.
And today also the last day to test VCT,
the last unprotected sex was when I went to Bandung for that happy massage, I
swear I felt he tried to penetrate my ass unprotected, but it was July – I
think – so I need to check again next month to pass the window period. The
result is no reaction by the way. And the doctor is Korean look with a weird
body proportion like Andy from 100PM.
Today’s lines of movies is exceptional,
apart from the western movies that I don’t watch due testing my VCT, but Bella,
Javan Wedding Movie, and Sumba are amazing.
Had Olin Monteiro and the director from
Bella came to the house and did an intense discussion about women, did I said
intense, the only thing that stop us is because we are hungry af.
Day 7.
Summarecon Mall Bekasi
So this is the first time I went there, it’s
quite far, much further from Bekasi Train Station,
Since I was informed that I need to do
some meetings with the mall staff so I went a little bit earlier, like 5 hours
earlier.
The mall was okay for an urban area, and
the stores are similar like any other store in Jakarta.
I was working in Starbucks for several
hours doing my HSBC CBA which I completely couldn’t do it several days ago.
Since the movie is a quite new, thus the
owner refused to just give it to us, instead the producer and her assistant
came to SMB so we can screen it.
And today is the worst day of the
festival, well according to me that is.
Two volunteers came and didn’t do
anything since it was an open screening so there will be no reservation, we
were just hanging out laid back and munchkin, I ate an awful Takoyaki and the
worst Okonomiyaki ever, the volunteer girls just drank Sosro and whatever.
There are two festival happening at the
same time and the movies that we were playing; Valentine, regardless the
whooping size of 100 GB didn’t stand the chance when face to face with a band,
so we need to call it an off early, since Sammy and Ade calling me to shut it
off.
Day 8
Song Lang – IFI
Coming home.
I always felt that I belong in this
venue, but since I’m not “the inner circle” the hot shots of the festival so
they left me with mediocre venues, but then again, due to the fact that we had
incidents in SMB so they shifted my venues for today and tomorrow, Yeay.
Met new faces and old hommies, had a
little argument with Agung BL, but like whatever.
My knowledge towards the reservation is
minimum and the system is kinda sucks, very confusing for new users. Since none
of these bitches wanna handle the insight of the screening room so like okay,
you guys handles the reservation and Ill do the MC and discussion.
Today’s movie is Song Lang, a very slow
pace movie from Vietnam, mind you that the whole country has no tendency to
control the personal life of the people but when it comes to public matters; in
this case the movie; thus they put it down low and low key. I get this form the
speaker; Om King from AP
Did I said it’s a low pace? Yeah it’s
boring, so I overslept.
Day 9
Peppermint, Indivisible, Let the Girls
Play - Selatan Café
This day is the best day of the
festival, LOL
On the contrary from SMB incidence, we
do not have any fuzzy wuzzy shit, all our food already prepared by the café, I
have a lot of volunteer due to the coordinator double counted them for screening
and exhibition, the funny thing is it’s in the same room. I just don’t
understand with how this people run this festival.
This is a lesehan kinda venue, we have a
seat at the back but I think its kinda rude while the other is sitting on the
floor, on the carpet. But we had a blast.
First screening was Peppermint, stared
by Jennifer Garner. Lots of Gun shot.
Second screening was indivisible, I need
to see this movie because the speaker came, Mas Ewa from leavemark. And we had
a long talk about depression, some people in the room including me might have a
depression, will write separately about this.
The last movie is Let the girls play, a
French movie played soccer, no audience so we just lying on the carpet and
munchkin our dinner.
After the screening I went to EH to
return all the stuff back to HO.
At first I was reluctant to join the
permabukan, I talk to Shin about this and refuse it, I don’t remember why I
refused it, but on the last minute I was thinking “this festival had money to
pay sammy’s hotel and buy alcohol, it was used and enjoyed by several people,
why not me?”
And there I was with Elyta, Oxal, Maul,
and Farhan and several other people which I don’t know had a blast,
Bear with me, there are several “my
first time” in one night which will be post in separate post, this night
deserve its own private spot.
Day 10
Last Day – Erasmus Huis.
I was drunk last night, all the details
can be seen here.
SO I woke up pretty late since I don’t
have any responsibility towards the festival except the audience recap. I don’t
remember anything but came to the bazar bought several face mask from Agung BL
and little pouch from preciousone, and body shop mask from Hartoyo’s friend, I
forgot her name but remember she is a teacher from Richi’s elementary school.
Did the closing fest screening, the
whole team said thanks, cleaning up the office, and then left.
As you can see I wrote very simple, no
details whatsoever,
This is the worst festival and gets the
best of me,
Shin left right after the festival ended,
and had a discussion with Devan and Ifal, the three of us will be joining Shin
shortly, all we have to do is blow the shit out on the evaluation meeting on
the 27th of Oct.
There is no transparency on the money
that we earns as a festival committee, the money that was used by several
people, the attitude of a bossy asshole telling people shit without thinking
first, and the worst is how putri and sam kept telling people that they were co-founder,
we were all there during the discussion of creating this festival, so I believe
we are all co-founder. This arrogance needs to be stopped.
Like any other great things, you will
reach a certain spot to end it, before it gets too bloody.
It’s been great, thank you for the great
time and friendship.
Bye.
